บทคัดย่อ

ในเรื่องของการเงิน เงินรวม คือ เงินต้นรวมกับดอกเบี้ยที่คำานวณตามอัตราดอกเบี้ยที่กำาหนด ซึ่งอัตรานี้มี สองชนิด คือ อัตราดอกเบี้ยคงต้นและอัตราดอกเบี้ยทบต้น อัตราดอกเบี้ยทบต้นก็แบ่งออกเป็น สองชนิด คือ อัตราดอกเบี้ยทบต้นที่มีระยะเวลาแน่นอนกับอัตราดอกเบี้ยทบต้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ชนิดหลังมีความคล้ายคลึงกับอัตราเพิ่มของประชากรมากกว่าชนิดแรก ความคล้ายคลึงกันระหว่างเงินกับ ประชากร คือ ปริมาณเงินต้นเปรียบเสมือนกับจำานวนประชากรในปีเริ่มต้น ปริมาณเงินรวมเปรียบเสมือนกับจำานวนประชากรในปีสุดท้าย อัตราดอกเบี้ยทบต้นอย่างต่อเนื่องเปรียบเสมือนกับอัตราเพิ่มของประชากร จากความคล้ายคลึงกันนี้ ถ้าทราบอัตราเพิ่มของประชากรก็สามารถคำานวณหาจำานวนประชากรในอนาคตได้ ในการพยากรณ์อัตราเพิ่มของประชากรไทยจากรูปแบบสมการ Quadratic, Cubic กับข้อมูลในปี พ.ศ. 2452 - 2543 และปี พ.ศ. 2503 - 2543 พบว่า อัตราเพิ่มโดยเฉลี่ยของประชากรไทยในปี พ.ศ. 2543 - 2553 คือ 0.542% เมื่อนำอัตรานี้ไปพยากรณ์ประชากรไทยโดยใช้สูตรดอกเบี้ยทบต้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง พบว่า จำานวนประชากรไทย ในปี พ.ศ. 2553 คือ 64 ล้านคน

COMPOUND INTEREST AND GROWTH RATES OF THAI POPULATION

Abstract

In financial study, total amount of money is principal plus interest calculated at a given interest rate. There are two types of interest rate, periodic compounding and continuous compounding. The continuous compounding rate is similar to population growth rate than is the periodic compounding rate. The similarity between population and money is that the principal is like the population in the beginning year and the total amount of money is like the population in the final year. From this similarity, if a population growth rate is known, then we can calculate the future population. According to the Thailand population forecasts, using Quadratic and Cubic equation models for the data during 1909 - 2000 period and 1960 - 2000 period, it showed that the average growth rate of Thai population was 0.542%. When Thai population was forecast at this rate, using continuously compounding formula, it was found that Thai population in the year 2010 was 64 millions.
